What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the primary compounds most commonly extracted from a species of cannabis known as hemp. Unlike THC, the other primary compound, CBD has no psychoactive effect. It is one of more than 120 compounds called cannabinoids.

The human body produces some cannabinoids of its own, which are called endocannabinoids.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) receives and translates signals from cannabinoids to regulate functions such as sleep, immune-system responses, and pain. It also regulates stress, memory, mood, energy, metabolism, nerve signaling, muscle control, etc.

Endocannabinoids enable communications between all tissues of the body. Examples:

1.How many inflammatory messenger molecules to release or withhold,

2. How quickly to move food through the gastrointestinal tract,

3. Whether to release or withhold calming neurotransmitters in the brain

Cannabinoids and receptors operate as a "lock and key mechanism"; the cannabinoid receptor will only allow a precisely fitting cannabinoid to trigger activity. These cannabinoid receptor sites are all over your body.

While hemp is the most common source of CBD, it is not the only source, as CBD can be derived from other plant sources. SourcePure CBD is not derived from hemp. It is derived from orange peel, which undergoes a proprietary process to create one of the purest forms of CBD on the market. Unlike some hemp derived products that contain trace amounts of THC, this product is 100% THC-free.
